The Air Fryer I Waited Years For
Why pure glass changed everything in my kitchen — zero coatings, zero leaching, and the relief of seeing real food cook in real time.

The non-negotiable barrier
I wanted an air fryer for a long time. Crisp roasted food, less oil, faster cooking — the promise was genuinely appealing.
But every time I looked closely, the same thing stopped me: the coating. Non-stick baskets, plastic parts, “ceramic” layers. Food cooking at high heat, every day, against surfaces designed to wear away. For me, that was non-negotiable. So I waited.
Convenience should never come with a hidden ingredient.
What to avoid in conventional air fryers
- PTFE / “non-stick” coatingsPart of the PFAS “forever chemicals” family. At high heat, or once scratched, coatings can release fumes and flakes — and air fryers run hot, every day.
- “Ceramic” coated basketsOften a sol-gel layer sprayed over metal. It wears, chips and loses its slickness with heat and scrubbing — exposing what lies underneath.
- Plastic housings near hot airHot air circulating past plastic parts can carry a “new appliance” smell for weeks — a sign that something is off-gassing.
- Coatings you have to babyNo metal tools, no hard scrubbing, replace when worn. A cooking surface you must protect is a surface that is slowly breaking down.
What to look for when choosing an air fryer
- 01What actually touches the food? Ask for the material, not the marketing word.
- 02Is it coating-free — not “PFOA-free” alone, which can still mean other PFAS?
- 03Can you see the food without opening a drawer and losing heat?
- 04Is it easy to clean without special care?
- 05Does one appliance replace several, saving space and decisions?
Then came pure glass
The EDT Luma PureGlass™ air fryer oven has zero coating — no PTFE, PFAS, PFOA and no ceramic layer. The food touches only Grade 1 glass. Nothing to peel, nothing to leach, no residue in the food.
Prepping, cooking, storing and cleaning all became simpler at once.
Two bowls, one easy rhythm
It comes with a 4.5L and a 2.5L glass bowl — and that turned out to be the quiet hero.
- Prep in one, cook in the otherMarinate the next batch in the 2.5L bowl while the 4.5L bowl roasts.
- Store one, use the otherLeftovers go straight into the fridge in their bowl — no transferring, no extra containers.
- Right size for the dishThe small bowl for a quick lunch or side; the large one for a family roast.

Life in my kitchen now
I am honestly obsessed with garlic roast chicken and roasted vegetables from it. Through the glass, I watch the chicken turn golden and the vegetables caramelise — no guessing, no pulling out a drawer.
I can lift the lid anytime to flip, season or check, just like cooking on the stove. It feels like real cooking, not feeding a machine. And it tastes wonderful.
Cooking is less messy, too. No splatter across the stovetop, and cleaning is a soak and a wash — no delicate surface to protect.
The nudge to start baking
It also gave me the courage to try baking. I am still an amateur, but I am happily experimenting with healthier versions of chocolate oats cake, puddings and simple treats.
When one product does many things, trying something new feels easier. Less to maintain, less space taken, fewer decisions.
One appliance, many jobs
- 6-in-1: air-fry, bake, roast, grill, reheat and more — no separate appliance for each.
- Custom chef mode: presets for busy days, your own time and temperature when you want control.
- NutriRetain™, 1500W: gentle, even heat designed to help retain nutrients.
- Space relief: one transparent appliance on the counter instead of several.
I love optimised, simplified, efficient solutions — this is one of them. Thank you, EDT, for bringing this healthier option to the market.
